Tom Rodriguez reflects on married life with Carla Abellana

Almost a month after tying the knot, Tom Rodriguez reflects on married life with wife Carla Abellana.

He told GMANetwork.com, "It's been a few weeks pa lang pero so far ganoon pa rin. We've been together for several years, ang nagbago lang ngayon, puwede na nating tawaging husband and wife ang isa't isa."

"Nandoon 'yung kilig ngayon kasi sinasabi kong 'my wife' kino-correct niya ako lagi na dapat 'girlfriend' pero ngayon, she's my wife."

Tom also shared how he has been planning to propose to Carla for years prior to their actual engagement.

"'Yung proposal matagal ko nang gusto, years ago pa, pero lagi lang nauudlot. Pero finally, I resigned myself to Him and decided on the day that I was gonna do it. For the next two weeks, walang naging aberya, it all went according to plan. Walang anxiety o takot."

During their wedding, Carla made sure Tom felt his late father's presence during their special day and prepared a surprise for him. Tom said, "Marami siyang [Carla] pakulo, nasa church na pala siya at naka-set up na 'yung hat ng daddy ko. I had no idea when she pointed it out. Hindi nag-register agad sa akin 'nung una.

"Then 'nung reception naman, daddy ko 'yung kumanta sa first dance namin. 'Yun din naluha ako. Ibang klase, that day was supposed to be hers."

"Sabi ko lang ang requirement ko lang is ako 'yung nasa tabi niya. But I wanted it to be for her, not knowing na she wanted it to be for me as well. Ganoon talaga siya, sentimental."

The World Between Us actor also narrated their honeymoon plans which will initially be a trip with their families. "We're going to do a mini family moon, naka-set na kami na mag-out of town kami with our family and I'm going to give her a proper honeymoon kapag tapos na mga commitments namin."

After almost seven years of being in a relationship, Carla and Tom kept their love strong. Tom pondered on how they managed to keep their connection, "Siguro giving the benefit of the doubt is one big key and communication. Siyempre kailangan napaguusapan n'yo 'yung mga differences at hindi n'yo iniisip 'yung worst case scenarios sa isa't isa, so nandoon 'yung understanding."

He concluded, "Kung doon papunta 'yung usapan dapat hindi automatic ina-assume mong masama 'yung ginagawa ng isang tao sa isang relasyon and constant communication talaga dapat."
