Six things you should know about Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos

Ryan Agoncillo and Judy Ann Santos renewed their wedding vows last May, and YES! Magazine had exclusive access to the intimate and heartwarming celebration.

In a sit-down interview a few days after the ceremony, the celebrity couple revealed a few things about their second wedding, their relationship with each other and with their kids, and how they’ve kept the flame alive after seven years of marriage.

Here are a few things you should know about the loved couple:

1. They renewed their wedding vows because of Lucho

One night, the family was watching the couple’s wedding video. Their second child Lucho saw his older sister Yohan and wondered why he wasn’t there. Ryan and Juday were amused with their son’s inquiry and eventually came up with the idea of renewing their vows in time for their seventh wedding anniversary for Lucho to witness.

2. They go on once-a-year vacations

Though they now have three kids – 11-year-old Yohan, four-year-old Lucho and four-month-old Luna – the two make sure that they still have quality time as a couple. Once a year, they go on a trip together, and another trip with the kids. Their longest yet was a 13-day trip to London and Turkey. These trips are meant to be romantic but they shared how they always spend the first day just sleeping in.

3. They love the beach

Beaches play a special role in their relationship. Aside from holding their first wedding’s reception and their second wedding’s ceremony in their beachside property in Batangas, they love the sea because it was where a lot of dates happened when they were still getting to know each other, it is where Ryan proposed, and it was where they had their first dance as a married couple.

4. They have a spiritual adviser

Fr. Tito Caluag is their good friend and spiritual adviser. He told them during the renewal of vows to never forget how they felt when they first got together. The priest also revealed that the couple doesn’t ask for marital advice but he prays with them and thinks that they’re a ‘very, very nice couple.’

5. They're hands-on parents

Ryan is very particular with reminding their kids about hygiene, and orienting them about the concept of winning and losing. Judy Ann, meanwhile, enjoys running errands like enrollment and school supplies shopping. They said that they take turns in disciplining the kids through playing ‘good cop’ when the other is the ‘bad cop’. They also work around their schedules in a way that one of them, as much as possible, is home to be with their little ones.

6. Their relationship dynamic changed drastically

The couple revealed how their marriage is now more relaxed than ever. Seven years of living under the same roof has allowed them to adjust to each other. Ryan says that they’ve learned to choose their battles and recognize what arguments are worth their time and effort. They shared about how Ryan would usually lose his temper about Judy Ann’s indecision. Now, Ryan is calmer and Judy Ann is more decisive. The over 20-spread feature on the July issue of YES!
