A policeman’s car caught fire while traveling the national highway in Ramon Magsaysay, Zamboanga del Sur.
The police corporal on board the sports utility vehicle (SUV) managed to get out of the car before it burst into flames.
Firefighters responded immediately and put out the fire after several minutes.
According to some witnesses, smoke came out while the car was moving. When the driver pulled over, the oil reportedly gushed out and the car burst into flames.
“Hinay pa to iyang aso, tapos pag-abot sa unahan, misenyas sa amo og overheat, tapos mihunong siya og kalit, tapos paghunong niya, mibulwak tong asyete sa ilawom sa iyang sakyanan ug didto na nagsugod og dilaab,” a resident, Jerry Casilagan, said.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Ramon Magsaysay said damage was estimated at P100,000.
GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is trying to reach out to the owner of the car, as of this writing.
“Sumala sa iyang gi-istorya kanamo, bigla lang daw nanimaho ang fuse ba nga nasunog parang wire ba,” BFP-Ramon Magsaysay Chief Investigator, FO3 Ariel Suico, said.
