GMA Network’s First Vice President for Program Management Jose Mari R. Abacan was tapped to be part of the prestigious ContentAsia Awards 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand. 

Abacan was chosen as one of the judges to review and evaluate entries from three categories including Best Drama Series/Telefilm Made for a Single Asia Market, Best TV Format Adaptation (Scripted) in Asia, and Best Asian Feature Film or Telemovie. 

With more than 28 years of industry experience, he was instrumental in GMA’s introducing Koreanovelas, Lakorn, Turkish, and Indian series in the country. He also oversees all program acquisition initiatives from both local and foreign producers. 

Aside from heading Program Management, he is also the current Project Director of GMA Network Films, Inc. and leads the overall operations and programming of all GMA’s Digital Terrestrial channels: Heart of Asia, I Heart Movies, and HallyPop.

This year, ContentAsia Awards held its first-ever face-to-face awards ceremony since the pandemic started. The milestone event happened at the Ballroom of Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit last August 26 and was attended by the most reputable members of the industry.

The ContentAsia Awards is operated by ContentAsia, a 15-year-old information platform curated to offer insights into Asia’s content environment. It offers print magazines, digital newsletters, online videos, and other materials that cover entertainment content creation, funding, financing, licensing, distribution, design and branding, and technology across the Asia-Pacific region.
