At 23 years old, Ashleigh Marguerretthe Krystalle Nordstrom Samson better known as Ashley Ortega stands at an impressive 5 feet and 6 inches.
Ashley would often get compliments on her Instagram account about her long legs that are perfect and fit for a beauty queen or a model.
Before joining showbiz, she worked as a model. And even before that, she was already making use of her incredible legs for figure skating.
Ashley started skating at around three years old and eventually started competing at about five years old.
She has competed in countries like Thailand, China, Malaysia and has brought home a few medals.
"Sa Malaysia, nakauwi po ako ng eight gold medals. All in all, I joined 11 events. Nakauwi po ako ng eight gold medals, dalawang silver saka isang bronze. Ako po 'yung Filipina na pinakamaraming nauwing gold medals," she previously shared in 'Tunay Na Buhay.'
However, she had to quit figure skating to focus on her studies and on her showbiz career.
"I stopped figure skating kasi nag-focus ako sa studies ko and sa showbiz. If magko-compete naman ako this year, kailangan kasi everyday training. Mahihirapan ako. Siyempre I'm focusing more on my career, so siguro I'm gonna buy skates. Pero [kung sasali sa] competition, siguro mahirap. Kailangan talaga kung sasali ka ng competition kailangang doon lang ang atensyon mo," Ashley explained.
Other than that, she admitted that it was an expensive sport to have.
"Actually, ang skating kasi is a very expensive sport kasi kailangan talagang hindi lang isa [ang] coach mo. Kailangan four or five coaches and then sometimes you have to train sa ibang country para mas advanced. Dito sa Philippines, dalawa lang ang skating rink natin dito. Kailangang mas advance and kailangan 'yung even the gears, 'yung skate shoes, mahal," she said.
"One of the problems din that's why I stopped kasi, it was so expensive. Milyon-milyon nagastos. Kasi siyempre 'pag mananalo ka, medal [lang] ibibigay sa 'yo. Hindi talaga tumutulong [ang government]," Ashley added.
