Mr. World 2019 candidates share what's in their 'man kit'

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Before, a man who spent too long in the bathroom would often raise suspicion and was met with a level of scorn.

Thankfully, the times have changed but even up to now it's very easy to feel bewildered with the overwhelming amount of advice found on the internet.

The trick isn't to spend a fortune on a thousand different products but rather develop a daily routine that is simple and quick ensuring that you don't let yourself down with unsightly hair or puffy eyes.

Hence, we sat down with the candidates of Mr. World 2019 to help present to you the easy grooming habits and tricks all men should get into.

And perhaps, with this maintenance, you'll be a part of this eligible list of desirable men.

1. Toothbrush and toothpaste

Mr. World Philippines JB Saliba is a believer that if you can't sway a person by your looks, you can always do it with words. And that goes with having a clean mouth.

He says, "Sa man kit ko, I always have a toothbrush. I need to have clean teeth and fresh breath. I think that's the most important.

"You can't really help it na, you will have a dirty face especially here in the Philippines -- alam mo naman kung gaano kausok tayo sa labas. So I think, its the mouth for me."

2. Shaving cream

Unless you're planning to move out into the wilderness to find yourself, facial hair of any length needs to be tamed and maintained.

You don't have to spend much on a beard trimmer but good shaving cream is a must for Mr. World England Jack Heslewood. He says, "By using shaving cream, you prevent your skin from getting rashes from the razors." Plus, investing in one can transform you into wilderness man to David Gandy in no time.

3. Trimmer

If shaving isn't your cup of tea, why not try trimming instead. Mr. World Czech Republic Jakub Kraus keeps his face neat and tidy by always having a beard trimmer at hand when he needs to.

He says, "I'm bad at doing any face masks but if there's one product I'd recommend it's to always have a trimmer at hand because I like to keep my facial hairs short and clean."

4. Washing your face before bed

If you want to head to bed with a clean slate, then a solid face routine is a must. This is what Mr. World Mexico Brian Gonzalez would advice young men.

He says, " Before going to sleep, wash your face with soap. It's the only thing I can give you boys."

Start the process with ice-cold water then move on to washing your face with an alcohol-free face wash.

5. Moisturize

For men, the idea of having a moisturizer is like a chore they have to add to the list of things to do. But for Mr. World Greece Thomas Tzekos, that shouldn't be the case.

He says, "Moisturizing is the key for me for the face and also you also have to buy a very good face wash."

6. Extra tip: Eat healthily and sleep more

No matter what your skincare routine is comprised of, nothing beats having a well-balanced meal.

More often, 80% of these Mr. World 2019 candidates have reiterated the importance of having a balanced meal focusing more on vegetables and meats.

"It's not just about the products you use but the food you eat," says Mr. World Greece Thomas Tzekos.

"To have a great face and body, you have to eat less sugar, less salt, and eat healthy -- vegetables and meat. Also, get plenty of rest."

To conclude, good grooming is an essential part of style gentlemen. So, if you want to look as dapper as these men, give these tricks a try.
