Make your own facial masks with these food items found at home

Get that much-needed facial treatment without spending a lot of money in a spa or salon and you can do it by making your own facial masks from items found in your kitchen!

Here are quick and easy recipes you can try now:

Banana Facial Mask

Bananas are rich in potassium, fiber, antioxidants, and some vitamins. A banana facial mask can help reduce wrinkles, treat acne and acne scars, prevent dry skin and sun damage, and even give you a glowing skin.

How to prepare:

  • Mash the banana (you may mix it with other ingredients like honey, lemons, avocado, yogurt, turmeric powder, etc.) and mix it in a bowl. Add water when needed to create a thick texture.
  • Apply the mixture to clean, dry skin in an even layer.
  • Leave on the face for 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water.
  • Pat the skin dry and follow up with a moisturizer.
  • Repeat two to three times per week.

Avocado Facial Mask

Avocado is a good source of healthy fats, antioxidants, and vitamins. And, when used as a facial mask, it can be good for hydrating the face with dry skin. The ingredients needed are, of course, an avocado, honey, and oats (which is optional only).

How to prepare:

  • Combine ½ medium or large-sized avocado, 1-2 tbsp of raw honey, and (optional only) 2tbsp of rolled oats in a small bowl.
  • Wash face with cleanser, dry, and then apply the avocado facial mask to the face and neck.
  • Leave on the face for 20 minutes.
  • Wash off the facial mask and follow up with typical skincare routine.

Egg White Facial Mask

Using egg whites as a facial mask works well for a variety of skin types. According to Medical News Today, “Those who recommend this face mask say that it can nourish the skin while also tightening the pores, making it ideal for combination skin.”

How to prepare:

  • Beat an egg white until it is stiff. Once it appears white and foamy, mix in 1 teaspoon (tsp) of lemon juice and 1 tsp of honey.
  • Wash face with warm water.
  • Apply the facial mask to the skin using a fan brush or cotton pad.
  • Leave on the face for 15 minutes.
  • Rinse the skin with warm water.

Oats Facial Mask

This oatmeal facial mask recipe can leave your skin feeling and looking better. Other recipes, however, claim that adding oats to your facial mask can moisturize your skin and even help treat acne.

How to prepare:

  • Combine ½ cup hot water and 1/3 cup oatmeal.
  • After the water and oatmeal have settled for two or three minutes, mix in 2 tablespoons (tbsp) plain yogurt, 2 tbsp honey, and one small egg white.
  • Apply a thin layer of the mask to your face.
  • Leave on the face for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Rinse with warm water.

Coffee Facial Mask

Coffee is packed with antioxidants which can help fight aging. It can help keep the skin hydrated and even protected against damage from UV rays. It also noted, however, that it cannot clear up your acne. This coffee facial mask is good for exfoliation of the skin.

How to prepare:

  • Mix ¼ teaspoon spent coffee grounds (finely ground) with one tablespoon of another breakfast stable, a yogurt.
  • Gently massage the mixture to your face and neck.
  • Leave on the face for five minutes.
  • Rinse well with warm water.
  • Use it no more than once or twice per week.
