Winwyn Marquez is a Haunting Beauty in 'Dormitoryo'

Winwyn Marquez’s name is almost synonymous to the word “dance”. We’ve seen her lock it and pop it , shimmy and shake it, and just all out groove to the music on Sunday All Stars but this time, Wyn is ready to show a different yet spooky side to herself in “Dormitoryo”.

“Yung character ko dito is Maika Benitez, the “it girl”, kumbaga siya yung most popular girl on campus until may nangyaring masama sa kanya,” the actress described. “Doon na rin iikot ang kwento, kasi magpaparamdam si Maika sa ibang students lalo na kay Hazel, yung character naman ni Lauren (Young). Kailangan nilang hulaan kung paano ba namatay si Maika at kung sino ang pumatay sa kanya.”

We then hinted at a possible twist that Maika may have faked her own death and at this, the actress laughed. “Hindi ko rin alam to be honest, kasi hindi talaga inelaborate ng production team yung description ng character ko. So ako mismo, hindi ko alam,” she said.

She might be haunting the halls of Holy Spirit Manor in the series but the svelte beauty admitted that she’s not a big fan of horror films. “Takot ako!” Wyn exclaimed. “Pwede naman akong manood ng horror movies pero kailangan naka tirik yung araw, bukas lahat ng kurtina, yung ganoon. Kaya nga challenge talaga sa akin itong role na ito kasi kailangan kong manakot kahit ako mismo yung takot.”

The daunting task to carry the spook factor on her shoulders hasn’t dampened Wyn’s excitement for the series; in fact, the Kapuso star is predicting that the show will be a hit with their young audience. “Ako I’m confident na papanoorin nila ito kasi a lot of people are open-minded and are looking for something new. Iba kasi yung story nito compared to the other teen shows that we’ve seen. Magugustuhan nila ito lalo na yung mga mahilig sa horror.”

The pilot episode of Dormitoryo has since aired and it looks like the actress was right to be enthusiastic for the show. Already, hairs are standing on end and netizens are wishing for Sunday to come sooner. Could this suspense-serye be the next iconic teen series on local television?
