The basketball player appealed to his Instagram followers to pray for their successful treatment as Chesca underwent tubal ligation already after she gave birth to Gavin six years ago. During tubal ligation, the fallopian tubes are cut or tied to block the sperm from meeting up with the egg.

Doug wrote, "And so it has begun! It's gonna be a long and complicated process so please keep us in your prayers.

"We're doing steps to get pregnant again! Chesca's been ligated since Gavin... Getting pregnant almost 2 straight years with Scarlett and Gavin took a toll with Chesca's body so we decided to have her ligated.

"But it's been 6 years and we did the necessary steps to check if her body is ready and healthy now. And so far, so good.

"Like I said, it's a complicated process but there are other ways to restart the baby factory! I'm kinikilig to the bones!"

According to mayoclinic.org, in vitro fertilization (IVF) is a complex series of procedures used to treat fertility or genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child.

During this procedure, mature eggs are collected from the ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab. Then the fertilized egg/s is/are implanted in the uterus.

One cycle of IVF takes about two weeks.
