EXCLUSIVE: Melanie Marquez reveals advice to her daughter Michelle Dee
One of the Baes actress Melanie Marquez is a true beauty queen at heart, and naturally, she's passing her beauty queen skills onto her daughter, newly-crowned Miss World Philippines 2019 Michelle Dee.
Melanie is not just a mother, but also a mentor to Michelle.
In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com she said, “I told Michelle, you can be a Hollywood star pero comfort zone niya rito [sa Pilipinas], e.”
She also sees Michelle's potential.
“My daughter has a very good diction when it comes to sa English at Tagalog niya, maganda ang volume ng boses niya.”
Melanie also required her children to finish their studies before entering showbiz or modeling.
“Pero bago ko siya [Michelle] pina-model, pinatapos ko muna ng pag-aaral.
“Kaya tapos siya para may fallback siya kung meron siyang education.”
She added, “Priority para sa 'kin [ang] education, I told my children I want everyone to finish their studies.
“My responsibility is to put you in good schools, and your responsibility is to finish your schooling.”
Although Melanie sees her daughter's potential to make it abroad, she said Michelle prefers to focus on her career in the Philippines right.
“Gusto niya muna i-try dito. Philippines is the best training ground to please Filipinos, if she can please Filipinos, madali na abroad.”
She elaborated, “If she can please Filipinos, madali na abroad, pinakamahirap i-please ang mga Pilipino, kapag na-please mo sila, kaya mo na ang broad.
“'Yung training ground dito ang pinaka-best in acting and modeling, mag-train ka dito, sabi ko.
As a mother, Melanie never runs out of wise words to impart on her children, “Just learn how to control and know your priorities and you will never lose your way.
“Hindi ka babagsak o masisira basta alam mo 'yung priority mo at limitasyon mo.”
She concluded, “You need determindation, discipline, and dedication to make you successful individuals.
“Choices nila 'yan, ako na-iin-love, gaga rin ako, pero hindi ako naniniwala na kapag bumagsak ka hindi ka na puwedeng bumangon.
“Alamin mo lang kung san ka nagkulang at baguhin mo, that's a sign of maturity.”
