Megan Young and Lauren Young open up about previous financial problems in latest vlog

By Felix Ilaya

In Lauren Young's latest vlog, she invited her sister Megan Young to talk about the ups and downs of their family, particularly the time their parents separated and they had to deal with financial problems.

Megan and Lauren started the vlog on the topic of their parent's separation when they were 20 and 17 years old respectively.

"When our parents separated, Dad moved out of the house, and eventually Mom moved to the States shortly after. We were kinda just left, just the three of us. We were like, 'Umm, paano ba 'tong adulting na 'to? Ano ba ang naituro sa 'min?'

"When they each started to do their own thing, I was like 'Oh my gosh, paano na kaming magkakapatid? Sinong magbabayad ng rent? Who's gonna take care of each other?'

"I thought na since I was your ate, I should take care of you. There wasn't even a question of 'Should I take care of Victor and Lo?' No, I knew I had to take care of you guys because who else would? I didn't wanna leave you guys because you were my siblings."

At this time, Megan stepped in as the provider for her siblings, Victor and Lauren.

"When it was just us, I was still struggling with my career because I didn't really know what I wanted to do, if I wanted to host, if I wanted to act. There wasn't a lot going for me yet at that time.

"Kung walang work, walang kita, walang mangyayari, wala tayong pambayad ng rent. That was the time when Victor needed money for school and we had to really find out what to do and where to get that money from.

"Coming from my background where I didn't know how to handle money, I didn't know how to do accounting, or how to save in general, it was really hard for me. I was just looking at my bank account seeing if I could pay for this, and seeing if I could pay for that and what worked for us as a family. It was difficult because I didn't know what I was doing honestly."

For her part, Lauren admitted that she hated Megan during that part of their lives.

"Oh yeah, I hated you. Honestly, growing up, I've always been this angry kid, you know that. I've been angry, I've been spoiled, I have a short temper kasi, I'm very pikon. Even until now.

"I used to think that I had anger issues and I would do all these exercises to help me clear my mind. They helped because I'm not that pikon anymore but I have a short fuse.

"During that time, isipin mo, I was 17, my parents just separated, they left, and then I wasn't exactly good already with being controlled by the parents then what more when it was my sister who stepped in and was like 'Hey, you gotta do this, you gotta do that.'"

Ten years after their struggle, both Megan and Lauren have found themselves in a much better place. Their relationship and finances have improved tremendously. Megan even recently tied the knot to her long-time boyfriend Mikael Daez.
