Vicky Morales shares how motherhood shaped her to a more selfless person

By Felix Ilaya

When it comes to being a mom, there is no one Vicky Morales admires more than her own mother, Lou Morales.

In an interview for Kapuso Magazine's May 2020 issue, Vicky talked about all of her mother's best qualities and why she strives to emulate her ways.

"She would consistently uphold what is best for the family without condoning anyone who got out of line. My mom has always been the moral compass and disciplinarian of our family. She's a very low-key lady but is rock-solid and way up there when it comes to integrity.

"That's the kind of mom she is, and that's the kind of mom I want to be to my own children. I would be lucky if my children could admire me even half as much as I admire her," she said.

Now that she is a mom herself to her 12-year-old twins, Leon and Pipo, and nine-year-old daughter, Daniela, she has started to notice the things that motherhood changed in her.

According to Vicky, "I try very hard to be a hands-on mom. I do whatever it takes to be around for school programs, parent-teacher conferences, sports competitions, and pedia visits.

"(Being a mother) made me think less of myself and more of my children. It has sharpened my focus on the things in life that really matter. I shower them with love and try to make them feel that I am always there for them."
