Chynna Ortaleza shares how she helps her daughter Stellar with online learning

Kapuso mom Chynna Ortaleza is welcoming a new stage in motherhood as she assists her daughter Stellar, fondly called Peanut, in online facilitated learning.

During the recent GMA Artist Center online show, How Do You Feel: 'Usapang Artista', Chynna opened up about how she helped Peanut transition from a school set-up to online learning.

"One of the worries I had was how was I going to continue educating her, because she already started pre-school."

Currently, Peanut is under her school's online facilitated learning.

"Ngayon kasi, I enrolled Peanut in her school. Her school was really fast at adapting.

"They were able to make online classes for the kids.

"She's still in Nursery and Kindergarten level. I'm really thankful to her school.

"Now she has classes online for an hour Mondays to Friday. It encompasses subjects from language to math, to music, art, iba-iba talaga siya.

"The school provides the materials for us.

Chynna admitted that she worried how this setup could affect Peanut's progress in learning, but with the right amount of guidance she was able to help her daughter get used to learning online.

"At first I was worried, but it's nice to see her progress. I'm beside her when she has her class."

She also learned how to give her daughter enough freedom to do tasks on her own.

"It also disciplines me as a parent. You have to discipline yourself in letting your child do her thing and not correct her right away."

"I don't know yet if I've cultivated the teacher side of me so I'm feeling my way through," she added.

Now that there's a pandemic, Chynna is also teaching her daughter basic chores and skills at home after her online classes.

"After an hour of facilitated teaching, I assist Peanut with practical life. I make her help me with chores, mopping the floor, dishwashing the floor, which is beautiful for me kasi bata pa lang natututo na."

'Yung pandemic na ito, basic life skills talaga kailangan mo," she said.
