Jewel Mische defends her parenting methods from detractors

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

Former actress and mom-of-two Jewel Mische couldn't help but defend her parenting methods from critics who said that she's spoiling her children.

On Tuesday, July 7, Jewel posted photos of her children and wrote a lengthy letter about how her eldest, Aislah Rose, is growing up exactly as she imagined her to be.

She wrote, “Some would say that 'spoiling' them would mean they are less independent but for us, it is the total opposite.

“Rocked and fed to sleep every day and night, slept on my chest, held and attached to me and her dad for the first year of life and yet Aislah has grown to be cruisy, confident, and very loving.

“[She's] still a mommy (and daddy's) girl but also the most social and independent little thing. She even started sleeping in her bedroom on her own before turning 2 years old.”

Her message to all the moms who's been told that they're spoiling their kids? “Do not listen.”

Adding, “Babies cannot manipulate you. They simply do not have the capacity.

“They want all your love, attention, and the closeness of your body for security, safety, and development.

“The exhausting demands of being their everything won't last forever and all you're doing is creating a happy, nurtured, extremely secure little girl (and one day a young woman).”

In the comments section, fellow moms have opened up about their own experience of judgment.

One fan wrote, “I needed this. I've been told that my little girl at 4 months old could now sleep by herself in her room. We tried it once and it was heartbreaking for my husband and I. I told them she'll be in our room as long as she wants to.”

Another netizen commented, “This is true. Parents know what's best for their child.”
