Paulina Sotto admits first month with daughter Sachi Brielle was 'extremely difficult'
Beyond the cute and happy photos of Paulina Sotto's daughter Sachi Brielle on social media are the struggles that the first-time mom had to endure for the past months of caring for a newborn baby.
To mark the third month of Sachi, the accomplished visual artist gave her followers a sneak peek of the challenges of having a baby while also recovering from childbirth.
Paulina, the daughter of Bossing Vic Sotto and Angela Luz, is married to Jed Llanes and gave birth to their first child on September 7.
Three months later, she openly admitted on Instagram that even though she prepared for Sachi's arrival, it dawned on her that taking care of a human being is a whole different ball game.
She shared, “The first month of Sachi's life was extremely difficult--not because she was a difficult baby, but because everything was so new and so overwhelming.
“As a first-time mom I did my research before giving birth, but still felt unprepared when she made her arrival."
Paulina added that it took her a while to recover, too.
“I also had a rough recovery from 4th degree tears. I couldn't sit down properly, getting up was a struggle every time, and I couldn't take care of her the way I wanted to.”
In the second month, Paulina had to figure out the breastfeeding schedule of her baby, which means they had little or no sleep at all.
She remembered, “By the second month, things were starting to get better as I finally healed after 6 weeks. I was able to move around without pain, and we were starting to better understand her needs.
“But even then we were still sleep deprived and I was trying to figure out my breastfeeding/pumping schedule on a daily basis (spoiler alert: it is HARD WORK).”
Despite going through some rough patches, Paulina Sotto said that she learned a lot about being a parent and the most amazing thing is that with the help of her family, with no yaya by the way, they were able to take care of all her needs.
“Now at 3 months, we have a daily routine for this beautiful little girl (thanks to her other caregivers @jed.llanes and @angeleyes7889 -- no yaya!), and that has led to less crying, more smiling, and a lot more sleep! I can now fully appreciate every moment I have with my daughter.
“She is truly so beautiful inside and out. I'm not sure what I did to deserve her, but I will never take her for granted. I can honestly say I love her more and more every single day.
She ended her post by greeting her favorite munchkin, “Happy 3 months to the light of our lives Here's to hoping we don't go through the dreaded 4-month sleep regression.”
