Andre Paras, proud of brother Kobe Paras's maturity amid 'feeling sikat' remark

By Jansen Ramos

Negative comments thrown at Kobe Paras did not sit well with his elder brother, Andre Paras.

One example would be the "feeling sikat" remark, to which their mother Jackie Forster responded, defending her son from the harsh comment.

As much as Andre wants to ignore the bashing online, the Kapuso star can't help but ponder on the toxic Filipino culture in social media.

"Wala, e, that's how they are," he said while shaking his head in an interview with GMANetwork.com today, December 16.

Andre pointed out why it's hard for people to support rather than to keep pulling one down. However, he is sure that Kobe doesn't let his detractors sweat off his back.

Andre continued, "Instead of supporting, they say negative comments 'cause I do believe that people are more tough behind the keyboard like keyboard warriors.

"So negative comments don't faze him."

Kobe is currently in Bahrain with the Gilas Pilipinas team for the 2021 Fiba Asia Cup Qualifiers, and no one is prouder than Andre as the second-generation high flyer shows leadership for the young Gilas squad.

The Kapuso star stated, "Going with his leadership, I do believe that he did what he ought to do.

"And for people who know the sport like basketball players and coaches, I haven't heard any complaints from them, I haven't seen any bashing from them 'cause they know they had a rule."

Kobe Paras out of position as power forward

Andre additionally commended how Kobe well-received a different role in the game that he's not comfortable with. From being a guard, Kobe is positioned to play as power forward.

Andre explained, "To make it more clear to people, my brother is 6'6.

"He plays the guard position but he was put in the center, the power forward position which is not his game but he sucked it up.

"He did not complain because I've known players who had their positions switched but all they did was complain and sit on the bench and just get mad, nagdadabog.

"But Kobe did not do that 'cause he knows he's here to represent the country, he's here to play, he's here to help the team win."

Andre then emphasized, "He's not here for showtime, he's not here to show highlights, he's here to get the game going with his teammates and help the country win.

"I'm very thankful he's very mature.

"He's never complained in his life.

"By just knowing Kobe as he grows as an individual, I see his maturity, he's getting stronger and stronger."

As the eldest, Andre makes sure to build a happy and positive relationship with his siblings.
