Derek Ramsay turns nostalgic as he posts throwback photos with son

Derek Ramsay posted a short but poignant thought on Instagram today, December 30, related to parenthood.

The Kapuso hunk uploaded a photo of him together with son, Austin, taken in 2015.

“How time flies,” wrote Derek who tagged his son complete with a call me emoji.

Austin is Derek's son with former wife, Mary Christine Jolly.

He is currently 17 years old and lives in Dubai, UAE.

Derek has admitted many times in the past that his relationship with Austin is far from perfect.

“We may have our misunderstandings but always remember I love you and want what's best for you,” the model-actor wrote on Instagram in October last year after the two spend some quality time together.

It was in 2014 when Derek confessed in public that he has a son and was married for a time.

“Since then, I wanted to know my son first and keep my relationship with him, private," said Derek then.

"Austin was just an 8-year-old boy then and he would not be able to comprehend the possible media curiosity about him, especially since he was then new to the country and about to pursue his education here.

"Given the circumstances between Mary and I, which is far from ideal, I had to protect Austin first."

It was in January this year when Derek's legal counsel, Atty. Josabeth “Joji” Alonso, commented on Derek's Instagram that the actor's marriage “has long been declared null and void.”

She further added, “He was confirming the fact that he is no longer married to anyone.”
