Time flies fast, but for the family of Bubble Gang comedienne Valeen Montenegro, the death of their padre de pamilya, Iñaki Vicente, a year ago is still fresh in their minds.

For those who don't know, Iñaki Vicente was a football player for the Philippine team. He played for the national team from 1973 to 1989.

To mark the first death anniversary of her father, Valeen published a lengthy post on Instagram reflecting on the past months since her dad passed away.

Valeen began her post saying, “Coach Iñaki -- was a name that when said, automatically, you see his face, or have a word describing him. What's yours?

“Mine was always his sungit face. And I remember him saying he likes having that sungit and intimidating reputation. But for those who really knew him... that's what's so loveable about him.”

The comedienne went on to share the things she learned from her father.

“Dad taught me to be strong, to be tough and not get bullied but at the same time, love and protect people that matter to you. He knew that sometimes we need to learn things the hard way, so it sticks.

Valeen added, “Seeing all his students and friends at his wake, I was overwhelmed by the hearts he touched, the bond he made with people he's not even related to. Thank you btw (by the way), to all those who paid their respects and loved my Dad too.”

She also revealed that she still sends her late dad emails whenever she wants to tell a story or give updates about what's happening to them. Valeen admitted that it is very therapeutic for her to write messages for Coach Iñaki.

“Little kuwento out of the many ways he would try and 'communicate' or send us a 'message.'

“My friend dreamt of him a few months after he died and told her to tell me that he can read his emails. Hahahaha So I would email him [every time] I wanted to make kwento an event like Gavin's bday or what we did during quarantine or even just because I missed him. So for those that want to reach him, it's ibvicente@gmail.com

“Trust me, [it's] therapeutic. And I believe he gets to read them all talaga. Hahaha

“I wanna end this by sharing Dad's top 5 rules in life: (this was my favorite moment with Dad of all time. We were in our airbnb in San Sebastian, nothing scripted just a good conversation over breakfast and I'm so glad I documented it for my vlog.”

Several of her showbiz friends were touched after reading her heartfelt Instagram post including her Bubble Gang co-star Lovely Abella.

Valeen Montenegro also uploaded on her 'Valeentawak vlogs' channel a three-minute video of her best moments with her daddy.
