Beauty queen-turned-actress Charlene Gonzalez-Muhlach became an emotional mom as she pens her send-off message to her son Andres Muhlach.

According to Charlene, she will miss him after leaving the Philippines to fly off to Spain to study college.

“The day has come where you are starting a new chapter in your life as you head out to college,” she began on Instagram.

“As a mom, you imagine and know that someday, that day will come, but you always think it's too far away for it to be a reality.

“As you leave for college today in Spain, know that we love you very much, and we are super proud of you, Andres.”

Charlene added that it was a “difficult decision” to make him leave the country due to the ongoing global pandemic, but Andres insisted that he continues his studies on campus.

“As parents, we will be here to support and guide you every step of the way,” she added.

“We love you, Andres, and thank you for always being so kind and for continuously making us proud. Your dad, mama, and sister love you so much.”

Charlene then expressed, “Have the best time of your life in Spain and continue to make lasting memories that you will cherish forever… See you in a couple of months (May), my son… I love you very much.”

While Andres flies off to Spain, his twin sister Atasha will be staying home despite enrolling in a UK university.

“As for Atasha, she currently is studying online in a UK university,” Charlene explained.

“But due to the current lockdown in the UK, she will continue to study online this semester, and Atasha will be on campus the following school year there.”

She added, “Ang hirap mag-let go for any mom, but going off to college will be a wonderful experience for all children. As parents, we provided them wings, but now it's their turn to fly...

“We love you so much.”

Andres and Atasha, both 19, are Charlene's children with husband and former matinee idol Aga Muhlach. Like most students, the two had a virtual high school graduation last May 2020 from Brent International School Manila.

Charlene married Aga on May 28, 2001, and celebrated their 19th anniversary the same month as her twins' graduation.
