Reese Tuazon's daughter Baby Vianna is advanced for her age

By Racquel Quieta

Kapuso artist Reese Tuazon took a hiatus for most of last year, as she went through a unique motherhood journey amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The Descendants of the Sun PH star is now a doting mom to a beautiful 4-month-old baby girl named Vianna.

GMANetwork.com recently had a chance to talk with Reese about her one-of-a-kind experience from carrying a baby, to giving birth, and being a first-time mom in the midst of a pandemic.

October 30, 2020, Reese, whose real name is Therlyn Alcuitas, gave birth to Vianna Lucita Alcuitas Guigona.

Baby Vianna is the first child of Reese and her non-showbiz husband, Robi Guingona.

During the interview with GMANetwork.com, Reese shared the milestones that Baby Vianna has achieved so far. Turns out, her daughter is learning how to do things a bit more advanced than other babies her age.

Reese shared, “Right now, nasa four months, nagtu-turn-turn na siya. Nagpa-practice na siyang mag-turn. Ayun. She can grab things.

“Even when she was parang one month pa lang, nakikita na namin siyang nagsa-smile. Two months pa lang nagku-coo na siya, nagsasalita.”

Reese also said that she discovered through other people that her Baby Vianna is actually an “easy baby.”

“Sabi ng ibang tao who had babies na or like who are mommies already, she's an easy baby daw, which means hindi raw siya fuzzy.

“Calm lang siya na baby. Madali siyang alagaan na baby. Then she's always smiling, ganun.”

Although Reese is now enjoying every moment with Baby Vianna, her motherhood journey was definitely filled with challenges, as it began just right about the same time that the pandemic struck.

“March 6 ko nalaman na pregnant ako, tapos 'di ba March 13 lockdown agad? (laughs) So, the whole pregnancy I'd say, the whole first quarter to mga second quarter, nasa bahay lang talaga ako.

“Hindi ko ma-say na hindi ko na-enjoy 'yung pregnancy ko, but kasi 'di ba 'pag pregnant ka, especially for the first time, gusto mo ipakita 'yung baby bump mo, ganyan. Magbibihis ka nang naka-preggy clothes ka, ganun. So medyo limited lang in that way.”

Reese said she also had a hard time looking for a clinic with ultrasound, as most of the establishments at that time were closed.

And on a personal level, Reese also had struggles when it comes to staying fit and healthy amid the lockdown.

Reese revealed, “Nahirapan ako in terms of controlling my weight gain also. Kasi 'di ba 'pag nasa bahay ka lang, nakaupo ka lang, ganun. So, it was really an effort for me to work out.”

And during childbirth, the Kapuso star was also met with several challenges. First was having to go through almost 24 hours of labor.

Reese said she went to the hospital on October 29 due to bleeding. However, she was sent back home because her cervix opening size then was only 1 to 2 cm.

They went back the next day, October 30, when she started experiencing labor pains.

Luckily, during the time that Reese gave birth, restrictions in hospitals during childbirth have already eased.

“My husband was allowed to go inside the delivery room. Nung nagpu-push na ko nakapasok na siya.

“Before that, kailangan niyang mag-swab. Dapat may negative swab siya.”

Reese also revealed that she was mostly alone while she was on labor. Nevertheless, she took things in stride and is able to recount the experience with a few laughs.

She recalled, “Pero nung nagli-labor ako, nasa labor room ako, hindi talaga siya inallow. So, mag-isa akong nagli-labor. (laughs)

“Ine-endure ko 'yung pain. Mag-isa lang ako nun. Wala akong kahawak. (laughs) Ang hawak ko 'yung bed rail, 'yung sa kama, 'pag sumasakit na siya.”

Now that Baby Vianna is 4 months old, Reese says she has finally adjusted into her new routine as a mom and her ways of dealing with stress involve very simple pleasures that most non-parent individuals usually take for granted.

“Like when I become stressed out, for example with the baby, kahit maligo lang ako. You know, something to do to make yourself feel good.

“Maligo ka lang o 'di kaya magputol ka ng kuko. Trim your nails. Simple things like that or order food na masarap na favorite mo. 'Yon lang 'yung nakaka-uplift ng spirits ko sometimes. Very simple things lang.”

And as for getting back her pre-baby body, Reese feels absolutely no pressure about it.

“No, hindi naman. Ako masaya na ko na magkasya ako sa jeans ko. (laughs) 'Yon lang, okay na ko dun.”
