Pauleen Luna expresses her concern about Tali's online classes

By Nherz Almo

Learning among children has been greately affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. To avoid getting the virus, all the schools in the country have shifted to online classes.

Like many parents nowadays, Pauleen Luna has experienced firsthand the effect of this major change in education.

In the September 6 episode of Eat Bulaga's "Bawal Judgmental," the celebrity mom mentioned that her and Vic Sotto's 3-year-old daughter, Tali, has started attending virtual classes.

Pauleen said she could tell that her daughter has been wondering why she couldn't see her classmates personally, unlike when she was enrolled in a face-to-face class before the pandemic hit.

"Pero minsan, ang nakakalungkot is kapag nakikita niya ang classmates niya at sasabihin niya, 'Mommy, Vivian will visit me, right?' Yung parang she's longing for that face-to-face interaction, connection."

The lack of social interaction with fellow kids gets Mommy Pauleen a little worried for her daughter Tali.

She explained, "Hindi lang naman yung nakikita natin sa curriculum ang mga natututunan ng mga bata sa eskwelahan, there's so much more, kung papaano yung sitwasyon at paano sila magre-react. They learn a lot from interaction. So, yung yung minsan natatakot ako na baka kulang."

Pauleen then related her experience at school, "Mas lalo na ako, na-experience ko talaga lahat.

Alam mo 'yon, kasi lahat kami nag-a-adjust for her.

"Kaya there was this one time na nagpunta dito yung mga pamangkin niya, pero mga bata pa talaga, nag-rent kami ng inflatable slide, sabi ko talaga sa Daddy niya, 'Hayaan mo masaktan. Hayaan mong medyo masipa nang konti.' Para maintindihan niya na it works this way--na minsan ang mga pangyayari in your favor, minsan hindi--we have to learn how to adjust."

To make up for the absence of social interaction in Tali's online classes, Pauleen said she and Vic try everything so she can still experience it while we are still in a pandemic.

She said, "For now, you really try to stretch it.

Parents adjust, too

Pauleen said the students are not the only ones who have adjusted to the new normal learning setup.

Ito, we have to prepare everything for them 'tapos tutok na tutok ka.

Nandun yung kasi may relationship kayo. Minsan di niya feel mag-aral, gustong maglaro. Siyempre, nandiyan minsan yung maikli ang pasensya natin.

"Madami talagang struggles and difficulties, una pa lang 'yon.

Does Vic also join Tali in her online classes?

Pauleen immediately answered, "Hindi.

"Kumbaga, siya yung to the rescue. So, hindi talaga pwede mag-sit in si Daddy kasi maglalaro lang sila."

Despite the struggles, Pauleen is thankful to have more time to be with her daughter during this pandemic.

"Sana naa-appreciate din niya ang time na 'to na we're together, na nakakapag-bond kami. Kasi, gusto ko rin dumating yung time na ma-experience niya na matuto siya on her own.

"But, of course, I'm very thankful for this time. Sabi nga naming mag-asawa, kung hindi nagkaroon ng time na 'to, siguro hindi rin ganito yung magiging bond namin.

"Of course, we have to make the best of what we have, we're really trying, and sana paglaki niya, maalala niya 'to lahat," she concluded.
