Mary Anne Lim, mother of Kapuso actor Xian Lim, posted a cute throwback photo of her son obviously looking tall at about eight years old. She then shared a lesson-filled story about her son's height which she hoped her fellow parents could pick from.

Looking at the photo, Xian obviously towered his classmates who were mostly only standing at his shoulder level.

His mom then recalled an incident where Xian's supposed height difference from kids his age actually made her see an important realization about life.

“When Xian was 8, I enrolled him in summer basketball. During competition, the coach approached me: "Ma'am some parents are complaining that Xian is too tall for his age group; their heads only reached Xian's shoulder. His team always scored bec he didn't have to jump to shoot. He only dunked. Most parents were ok. But the others? They said their sons who had 'real' potential were intimidated.,” she said.

As a mother's normal reaction, she asked him why things turned out the way they did when he should have seen it coming. It was here where her son's coach devised a clever plan to balance the playing field.

“I turned to the coach & said, "Why are you telling me all this? You shd have known this would happen when I enrolled Xian,” she said.

“So the coach devised a 'fun-only competition' with Xian. Anyone absent would not be allowed to join the 'for trophy' competition. (where sadly Xian couldn't join this anymore.)” she added.

Years after, she reconnected with the parents of Xian's playmates who congratulated and sent their regards to her son who is now among the most successful actors of his generation.

“Yrs have passed & recently I received DM's from the nice parents, giving Xian their best regards. I asked abt the boys with potential. They said no one made it to any league, bec the boys didn't grow much,” she said.

She ended her post with a very important lesson, "We should let our children enjoy their games bec interaction at that age is more important than scoring, & more because this is where they first learn the value of unity & friendship.”

Xian is part of the Kapuso series Love. Die. Repeat which was temporarily put on hold because of his co-star Jennylyn Mercado's pregnancy. While waiting for their taping's resumption, he is currently working with Kapuso leading lady Glaiza De Castro for the series False Positive.
