Denise Laurel opens up with son's estranged father

Denise Laurel looked back on her first pregnancy with her son Davian Alejandro or Bukie.

In a vlog from Wil Dasovich's SuperHuman YouTube channel, the actress recalled how she got pregnant and decided to be a single mom.

"I was 23, in the middle of my career. I started musical theater professionally when I was six, and TV at nine.

She admitted that it was not included in her plans at the time, "No, I wasn't prepared but you know what? I've always wanted to be a mom.

Denise added, "I did have a boyfriend at that time. No. A foreign dude. He pursued me for a very long time but our relationship actually was very, very short.

Eventually, she embraced motherhood and refers to her son as "the best gift in the world."

The actress also revealed how she almost lost her son.

"I used to call him a little warrior. When I found out I was pregnant I almost lost him but that's how I found out. I was filming everyday and I was on a liquid diet."

While she was filled with anticipation for motherhood, Denise also worried about letting people down, especially her family and work.

She said, "I always wanted to be a mom, I was excited, but I was worried about my family. Initially I was afraid that they would be upset and not accept me but they were surprisingly super understanding and they were proud of me that I chose this path.

"One thing I was afraid of was that I had many contracts that were ongoing. It was really tough because I had contracts ongoing. But it was never to the point where I thought of not having my child because it was my non-negotiable.

"I wanted to have Bukie from the get go. It was a chance for me to have somebody to love with my whole heart.
