Kyline Alcantara

It wasn't an easy process but Kyline Alcantara got through it, thanks to the support from all the people around her.

In a recent episode of "MavLine on Me," Sparkle artists Kyline Alcantara and Mavy Legaspi talked about the challenging moments in their lives that have led them to be in a slump. Kyline got candid and revealed that losing her grandparents during the pandemic was one of the toughest things she had to go through.

Losing a loved one is a painful process and this is especially true for Kyline who had to juggle work while coping with grief. She narrated, “So si papa Ben kasi nung namatay siya, biglaan lang. Nagkaroon siya ng heart attack tapos nagte-taping ako noon ng 'Bilangin ang Bituin sa Langit.' Nag pandemic umuwi kami sa Bicol for three months and then bumalik kami sa Manila para mag-work ako para sa show kasi 'yun 'yung time na puwede na mag-taping pero lock in. Habang nagpe-prepare ako for the lock in, papa Ben died. [It's very] sudden sa'kin kasi hindi sinasabi ni Mama na lagi na daw pumupunta ng hospital si papa Ben kasi ayaw niyang ma-distract ako.”

“It was really hard because hindi na ako puwedeng bumalik ulit sa Bicol. 'Yun 'yung pinakamahirap kasi last time ko siya nakita months ago na. So nagte-taping kami, ang sakit kasi lahat sila nandun. Nandun sila sa funeral. Prior to that lagi ko sila ka-facetime inaasikaso ko 'yung flower arrangements ni papa Ben, 'yung burol niya, and lagi ko din pinapasaya si Big Mama kasi of course namatay 'yung love of her life. Tapos nung taping na, libing na ni papa Ben, 'yun 'yung naka facetime I was crying on my own habang nasa facetime. 'Yung pumapasok lang sa isip ko nun how I wish, like I would do anything para makita si papa Ben for the very last time. So that was really really hard and after that kailangan ko ulit mag-switch to work mode. Siyempre nasa taping kami and ayoko naman maging cause of delay ako,” she further shared.

After a few months, Kyline had to go through the same thing when her grandmother Big Mama died. Although she slowly prepared herself for it, the Kapuso actress was still greatly affected by the loss of an important person in her life.

She said, “Nung time na nangyayari lahat ng 'yun, nung si mama nakikita ko sa floor, nasabi na sa'kin 'yung balita, siguro dahilan din 'to na parang ever since bata pa ako artista na ako, nag-aantay ako ng cut. Nakikita ko si mama tapos nag-aantay ako ng 'cut' from a director kasi hindi din ako makapaniwala. Even though accepted ko na siya pero parang siyempre you don't want to lose someone that you really really love.”

Losing two of the most important people in her life made Kyline question why people have to "leave." But it was this experience of hers that also made her appreciate the people around her more.
