A 36-year-old vendor and his 17-year-old companion died after a fuel tanker rammed into their food truck in the town of Valladolid in Negros Occidental.
The incident happened at the town’s boulevard on July 5, 2026.
The impact almost crushed the food cart.
Based on investigation by the Valladolid Police, the cart owner, Ramilie, died after getting hit by the truck. The minor companion, Hannah, died while being treated at the hospital due to an injury to her head.
The police said the driver of the fuel tanker failed to control the vehicle.
The driver, Dionesio, said he dozed off all of a sudden.
He is facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
Hannah’s mother, Gigi, mourns her daughter’s death. She said nothing can ever compensate for her child’s life.
“Tulungan niyo ako na makayanan ko ito. Hindi mabayaran ng kahit anong ibigay nila ang buhay ng aking anak,” she said.
Authorities have disallowed vending temporarily at the portion of the boulevard where the incident happened.
