Actor Andrew Schimmer's wife Jorhomy "Jho" Rovero passed away on December 20 after a long battle with severe asthma and cardiac arrest complications.

Andrew first opened up about his wife's condition in November 2021 after Jho was taken to the intensive care unit (ICU) of St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City after suffering from a severe asthma attack earlier that month that led to severe hypoxemia and cardiac arrest, and eventually a coma.

During his wife's hospital confinement, Andrew and his two children remained hopeful and hands-on in caring for Jho, documenting her health progress.

After over a year of being in a coma, Jho passed away on December 20, the news was made public by Andrew in a Facebook post.

In a video, Andrew narrated how Jho's doctors called him while he was taping for a Family Feud episode in GMA after Jho's blood pressure and oxygen levels dropped.

“Mga kapatid, ikukuwento ko lang sa inyo ang pinakamalungkot at pinaka-worst na balitang puwede ninyong marinig. Kanina habang nasa GMA ako habang sa taping ng 'Family Feud' ay tinawagan ako ng mga doctors niya dito sa St Luke's na biglang nawala ang kanIyang BP and everything. Nawala lahat pati 'yung oxygen saturation Andrew he said.

“Kaya naman nagpaalam ako sa GMA and I want to apologize for the management of 'Family Feud,' pasensya na dahil hindi ko natuloy 'yung kanina dahil kinakailangan kong tumakbo rito. Inabutan ko siya actually nire-revive ng ating mga doctors and nurses. They did everything they could, masakit lang,” he added.

"Gusto ko lang ibalita sa inyo...so, ayun lang. Guys, maraming maraming salamat sa mga nagdasal, sa mga taong hindi umiwan sa akin, thank you. Ang sakit lang kasi, birthday ng bunso namin mamaya. Hindi siya inabutan ng bunso namin. I will still keep you posted.

"Ito 'yung ating sleeping beauty, iniwan niya na tayo mga kapatid. Mommy, mahal na mahal ka namin love ko."

Andrew and Jho's youngest child, Xander, turned nine soon after Jho's passing.

In a video from The Schimmers official Facebook page, Xander is seen spending his birthday at his mother's funeral.

A voice from the video can be overheard asking, "Xander, what is your wish?"

Xander answered, "I wish...I want to see mommy."

He then goes up to his mother's casket and relays his message to his deceased mother. "I always wanted to spend more time with you, Mommy. I miss you so much. I really want to see you again."
