A new Miss Universe queen is crowned! Miss Mexico Andrea Meza, took home the crown during the 69th Miss Universe pageant held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, USA.
Among the runners-up were Miss Brazil Julia Gama (first runner-up), Miss Peru Janick Maceta (second runner-up), Miss India Adline Castelino (third runner-up) and Miss Dominican Republic Kimberly Jimenez (fourth runner-up).
Our queen Rabiya Mateo made it to the Top 21 list, which 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray commended.
Catriona also emphasized that so far the Philippines has enjoyed an 11-year consecutive semifinalist streak at the Miss Universe pageant.
Meanwhile, 2015 Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach also sent loving words to Rabiya.
Pia tweeted, “Rabiya you made us so proud! We know you put your heart into this and we love you! Mabuhay ang Pinay! Flag of Philippines #MissUniverse”
Indeed, we, Filipinos, have plenty of reasons to be proud of in this year's Miss Universe pageant.
Aside from Rabiya giving her best in representing the country, there were plenty of Pinoy creations in this year's Miss Universe pageant.
Aside from the outfits that Rabiya wore, creations by renowned Filipino designers such as Michael Cinco and Jojo Bragais, as well as that of other budding designers, were showcased on the Miss Universe stage.
