The French Tuck: A quick and easy tip to level up your OOTDs

By Felix Ilaya

If you've ever seen an episode of Queer Eye on Netflix, there's a good chance you've heard their resident stylist, Tan France, utter the magic words: "French Tuck."

He loves doing French tucks so much that their "makeover-ees" almost always ends up rocking one.

But what is a French tuck and why should you start doing it too?

A French tuck is when you tuck in the front part of your top and leave the rest hanging loose. It's that simple!

However, don't make the tuck too perfect as you want it looking a bit disheveled.

Tan explains that there are two good reasons why this styling technique is so effective at elevating one's outfit.

One is that it makes you look more put together.

Doing a French tuck gives any outfit that extra oomph as it shows you've put a bit of effort.

It also cinches the top ever-so-slightly which in turn makes you appear sharper and slimmer.

Tan also suggests French tucks for people who are struggling in the leg department, specifically those with short ones.

See, untucked shirts or tops have a tendency to cut off the leg; but with a French tuck, you expose more of your waist and legs which elongates them.

Even when you're not in France, do as the French do and tuck in those tops to your hearts content.
