Designer Cary Santiago shows how he made Gazini Ganados' national costume.
Miss Universe Philippines 2019 Gazini Ganados turned heads during the Miss Universe 2019 National Costume Competition in a striking silver ensemble inspired by the national bird, the Philippine eagle.
The Cebuana beauty queen appeared in the national costume competition in an intricate dress with silver feathers and life-sized birds on her shoulders.
The 23-year-old's headdress paid homage to the Philippine eagle, giving her a regal appearance.
Renowned designer Cary Santiago explained the story behind the costume's inspiration.
He wrote on Facebook, “I created a national costume that is somehow worthy for an international event. I took my inspiration from our national bird.”
In a Facebook video, Cary Santiago showed the process of wearing the decorative costume.
