Animal Crossing characters featured in Vogue is made by a Filipino designer!
Social simulation game Animal Crossing is taking over gamers on Ninntendo Switch. The game lets users create a virtual reality where players can interact through cute characters on an island.
Some players have taken their Animal Crossing characters' wardrobe to a whole other level, dressing them with designer outfits fit for the runway.
Kara Chung, a Filipina designer and photographer, has made her Animal Crossing characters her very own models as she showcased her creative OOTDs on them, as seen on her Instagram page dedicated to her fashion-savvy characters.
Kara shared her intention of helping people cope with the quarantine blues amid the coronavirus pandemic by creating a fusion between fashion and virtual reality.
"Where does fashion go after the lockdown? Right now people are connecting by taking pictures of themselves in their homes.
"I can't help but see similarities with this video game: everyone has become an image-maker, stylist, and model rolled into one.
"We're remembering together, and at the same time, the internet has evolved into a collective vision board.
"We're recreating our SSENSE wish lists. We're cosplaying as *ourselves*, with room to play.
"We're living in one big remix of reality, and this game is proof that creativity transcends isolation.
"Identity, and the pure joy that comes with its honest expression, is something to share.
"@referencefestival has asked important questions about how we can continue conversations about clothes that transcend the physical.
"Although this cannot replace a real show, nor overcome real delays and obstacles in the new normal, creating these digital tributes has been my small way to keep the story going.
She has made characters wearing popular fashion brands such as Chanel, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, among others.

Kara's virtual fashionista characters eventually international high-end labels such as Valentino--who tapped her to feature their Spring and Pre-fall 2020 collection in her
creations.
Kara also recently collaborated with stylist Marc Goehring, and the Berlin-based fashion organization Reference Festival to stage the first-ever Animal Crossing runway show.
Included in their line of brands were Louis Vuitton, Dior, Balenciaga, among others.
International fashion media outlet Vogue has even featured the fashion show, showcasing Kara's creations.
Celebrities and fashion brands have also found ways to incorporate fashion into their quarantine and "new normal" life by adding some unique style to their personal protective equipment (PPE) and face masks.
