In a recent webinar by Manulife titled "Ready, Set, #Goals,” celebrities Luiz Manzano, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, and siblings Andre and Kobe Paras shared what they mostly splurge on.

Kapuso star Jasmine Curtis-Smith reveals that she mostly splurges on her fur babies' needs and wants.

“I actually don't splurge a lot on myself. I like to wait for a lot of free things. (laughs) I think that's our benefits sometimes as influencers or personalities.

“But on a more gastos type of sense, like siguro my dogs and my pets really. Kasi they're the ones that keep me company when I'm alone or when I'm at work they come with me.

“So, it's more like making sure they're happy makes me happy type of thing.”

Meanwhile, basketball player and influencer Kobe Paras admits that he likes to invest in himself.

“I splurge on a lot of clothes and a lot of shoes. I basically invest in myself.”

And when the young athlete is not splurging on apparel and shoes, he said he invests in artworks.

“I invest in a lot paintings. So, when I try to save money, I try to support local artists in the Philippines.”

When asked who his fave Pinoy artist is, Kobe replied, “His name is Distort Monster. If you see around, he has a lot of graffiti everywhere. He just inspires me because he's not just a street artist. He's more of a painter na talaga.”

Kobe's brother, on the other hand, Kapuso actor and host Andre Paras confessed to splurging on gym equipment.

“I splurge on gym equipment 'cause during the pandemic a lot of gyms were closed. So, I made sure to buy equipment that I need to stay healthy.

The Game of the Gens host also joked about splurging on balikbayan boxes.

“And I also splurge on balikbayan boxes. So, just in case Kobe has old clothes, I can just, you know, get it from him, para tipid.”

Ironically, the Paras brothers' favorite things to splurge on also turned out to be some of the things they regret buying.

Kobe said there's actually no place to hang the last painting he bought, so it's just stocked up somewhere.

His brother Andre, on the other hand, confessed that he doesn't get to use his gym equipment because they're “just cool,” and now he actually wants to get rid of them, but nobody wants to buy them.

The host of the webinar, actor and TV host Luis Manzano, also shared an unforgettable experience he had about buying a luxury jacket in the U.S. that he now unfortunately regrets deeply.

Luis said while he was doing a film in New York one time, he saw a beautiful luxury jacket in a branded store during his free day.

Luis narrated, “So I saw the jacket, I loved it, I walked in and everyone took care of me right away. So, they gave me food, gave me sandwiches.

“And it so happened na may iba akong mga fans na pumunta doon sa store na 'yon. So, I was there and I had about, you know, six of my tagahangas with me at the store.”

He then revealed an interesting fact about the said luxury outerwear.

“They (the staff) said that jacket, the last piece, was bought by Will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas.

“So, I was asking for one size. So, they had one jacket sent over from a different department store.”

But things took a turn for the worse when the jacket finally arrived.

”When it finally got there, na-realize ko na I never looked at the price.

“So, could you imagine? So finally when I looked at the price, parang sinundo ako bigla ng mga ninuno ko. Parang I thought oras ko na.

“I heard singing, I saw a bright light. It turns out it was six figures.”

Luis said he initially thought about leaving, but couldn't get himself to do that.

“I was planning on leaving. I was planning on, you know, just sneaking out of the store.

“Ang dami ko na palang nakain at nainom. Tsaka all my fans were there. So, nakakahiya kung iniwan ko sila bigla.

“I ended up buying that jacket. Used it twice or thrice. It's a nice jacket, but up to now, pinagsisisihan ko pa rin 'yan.”
