Beat the heat with this wearable air-con

Is the summer heat killing you, especially when outdoors? Well, have you heard about a wearable air-conditioner that you can bring with you everywhere you go and can even be integrated into your clothes? We're not kidding. It does exist!

Sony released its wearable air-con in 2020 called the Reon Pocket and recently they announced the release of its upgraded version, the Reon Pocket 2.

In terms of looks, there isn't much difference from the original version except that it now has a stainless steel contact pad, which directly draws heat from the skin and is also sweat resistant.

As for the newly designed internals of the Reon Pocket 2 reportedly has up to twice the level of heat absorption of the first model.

Sony says this is why the follow-up product has a more powerful cooling performance.

Plus, it also has both a cool and warm mode, which the original model doesn't have.

So, people can now use it all year round, regardless of the weather.

The Reon Pocket 2 has a USB-C charging port and allows smartphone connectivity, where one can adjust the settings from 1 to 4 via Bluetooth.

In terms of wearability, the second version is more versatile than the original one.

The first model was mostly worn with a special undershirt. Hence, consumers needed to buy lots of pocketed undershirts from Sony.

Meanwhile, there are more options on how one can wear the Reon Pocket 2.

Sony has designed a neck strap accessory so that people can wear it with regular clothes, even if they don't have pockets.

Plus, they have also partnered with sportswear brands such as Le Coq Motif, Munsingwear, and Descente to come up with a golf clothing line that has pockets dedicated to wearable air-con.

This upgraded ingenious device has already been released in Japan on April 22 and is sold for $138 or 14,850 yen. That's around Php6,691.

There's no word yet when it will be released to other parts of the world. But surely those living in tropical countries like the Philippines will be on the lookout for it.
