Pia Wurtzbach, Megan Young, Kylie Verzosa, Angelia Ong's BTS for Harper's Bazaar Vietnam cover shoot
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Miss World 2013 Megan Young, Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa, and Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong are the cover stars for Harper Bazaar Vietnam's 10th anniversary issue, and their different high fashion looks for the magazine were put together by photographer BJ Pascual, creative director Eldz Mejia, and stylist Adrianne Concepcion in Okada Manila.
"Today we're going to be shooting Harper Bazaar's tenth anniversary issue," BJ said in his behind-the-scenes video on YouTube.
"Each layout iba iba talaga ng hair and makeup," he continued.
The photoshoot consisted of four versatile looks for the layouts: a fashionable shipwreck layout inspired by the Pinoy camp film Temptation Island, glamorous amazon looks, iconic closeup beauty shots, and sexy menswear.
The outfits were inspired by Alexander McQueen outfits from 2003 and by a mix of different Versace looks, a homage to Richard Avedon's iconic Versace supermodel campaigns.
As you may have noticed, the beauty queens donned dresses showing the colors of the Philippine flag for the Temptation Island shipwreck layout.
Megan said in the video, "May challenge tayo dito kasi 'yung first layout namin is wet look."
Kylie agreed, "Mukha kaming magandang na-shipwreck."
Meanwhile, Angelia was thrilled to be working with the whole team for the first time. She said, "It's my first time to work with everyone so I'm very excited. I've been waiting for this, five to six years in the making and it's finally happening."
Pia mentioned, "We're really excited about this, matagal na namin itong ini-envision. Matagal na naming gustong gawin. Finally, we're here and it's happening."
She also wrote in a social media post, "'Walang tubig. Walang pagkain. 'Di magsayaw na lang tayo!" Pia wrote. "Me and my girls on the cover of [Harper's Bazaar Vietnam]. Time warp to Temptation Island version 2021."
BJ also made a shoutout on his socials prior to the release of the BTS clips. He wrote, "This one's for all the gays! An homage to the iconic Avedon x Versace supermodel campaigns. Harper's Bazaar Vietnam's website showed different group and solo photos of Pia, Megan, Kylie, and Angelia and featured the four beauty queens talking about their pageant experiences and journey after their reign.
