Catriona Gray is taking her fans on a walk down memory lane as she showcases the Metropolitan Theater's history in “The GRAND REVEAL at the Philippine Metropolitan Theater,” the latest video on her Catriona Gray YouTube channel.
In the almost nine-minute video, Catriona goes through seven outfits, with five highlighted to reflect the different art forms that have been housed in the Met.
The first highlighted outfit representing The Opera Enchantress is a piece by designer Neric Beltran and is meant to emulate Filipina soprano singer Jovita Fuentes and other opera singers that have performed in the famed theater.
The second outfit representing The Screen Siren, is a piece named “Dorinada” also made by Neric Beltran, and is a nod to the film Bituing Walang Ningning, whose finale was filmed at the Metropolitan Theater.
The Prima Ballerina is the next one represented, using a dark pink silk taffeta dress made by Al Rey Rosano. The outfit is topped off with a feather headpiece by Miel Avena, with a pair of ballet shoes completing the ensemble.
A piece named “Dikya” by designer Neric Beltran is meant to represent The Carnival Queen, recalling the time the Metropolitan Theater housed vaudeville performances and also paying tribute to previous Metropolitan Theater executive director Conchita Sunico, who was herself a carnival queen.
The last art form highlighted is the zarzuela, represented by a couture terno made by Adam Pereyra in collaboration with Arwin Meriales. The terno is a nod to Atang de la Rama, a National Artist and Queen of the Zarzuela.
Catriona revealed the video through a post on her Instagram account, where she shared photos from her depiction of The Screen Siren.
A day earlier, Catriona had shared photos of her as The Prima Ballerina and said that it was part of her 28th birthday celebration.
Aside from being a celebration of her birthday, the Metropolitan Theater photoshoot is part of Catriona's efforts as an ambassador for the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, a position she has held for more than two years now.
