EXCLUSIVE: The secret behind the #ValeenChaGa friendship of Valeen Montenegro, Lovely Abella, and Chariz Solomon

In an exclusive interview with GMANetwork.com, the ValeenChaGa trio shared their ideologies on keeping fit.

Make time to exercise

This may be the most obvious yet also one of the most difficult steps in anyone's journey to fitness. For Valeen, Chariz and Lovely, incorporating workouts in their schedule is a must.

Lovely says, “Syempre hindi natin naiiwasan na napapakain tayo pero at the same time pag nagwo-workout tayo, nabe-burn natin 'yung mga kinakain natin. 'Yun 'yung talagang hindi namin tinatanggal sa everyday life namin.

“Depende 'yun sa gusto mo, sa katawan mo at depende 'yun sa hilig mo. Ako more on cardio ang ginagawa ko kasi gusto ko talaga mag-lose. So ang ginagawa ko nagba-boxing ako, more on HIIT, high intensity interval training ang ginagawa ko,” she adds.

Get enough sleep and nutrition

This is another obvious item in the list to healthy living but also among the most overlooked practices.

Chariz suggests, “Maganda kung meron ka talagang appropriate sleep pero sa line of work namin hindi uso 'yung tulog. I drink lots of water. Kung meron akong time mag-workout, nagwo-workout ako. Pero kung wala, I still go for healthy food choices.

She also interprets that a good diet doesn't mean depriving your body of food.

I eat more frequently, small frequent meals. Nagra-rice pa rin ako, mahilig talaga ako sa rice but healthy food choices.

“Pero sometimes when I need it, parang syempre kailangan mag-destress ng katawan, kumakain kami ng gusto namin. Kumakain kami ng pizza, ng spam, milk tea. Ganun lang, kung saan nasanay 'yung katawan mo, siya 'yung mag-a-adjust sa'yo eh. Hindi dapat ikaw 'yung mag-adjust sa kanya,” she continues.

Look at progress beyond the physical

Valeen, Chariz and Lovely intend to debunk the thinking that being healthy can always be measured by the physical look and that it can be done in a short span of time. What they recommend is a change in perspective and lifestyle.

Valeen says, “It has to be something religious na you love doing. Eventually naman.. wala pa akong nakikilala na they don't feel better after a good workout. Every time they work out, they feel better, they feel stronger. Para siyang domino effect so lagi mo siyang uulitin. Therefore, magiging lifestyle siya, change of lifestyle which I suggest everyone does kasi it's for the better of an individual.”

Valeen, who has been working out for about a decade now, also stresses that for people to see results, they need to pour in commitment and effort.

“It takes time. Everything hard will take time kasi if it's easy, everyone will have a perfect body,” Valeen further states.

Surround yourself with like-minded people

Whether it be drawing inspiration from physical company or from people seen through the digital world, the #ValeenChaGa trio agrees that surrounding yourself with people with the same goals is a big help.

Kailangan pag nagawa nung isa, kailangan magawa din nung isa,” she adds.

They also feel the same way, being the people of influence themselves when it comes to keeping fit.

“Nakikita namin na we inspire others. Nagugulat din kami and kami rin actually, na-i-inspire kami na we actually make a change in other people's lives, maybe like make them live 10 years longer, make them love themselves more,” Valeen claims.
