Solenn Heussaff says she's happier despite the changes in her body

For most moms, getting back in shape post-pregnancy is one of the hardest achievements to attain.

Aside from tending to the household and the sleepless nights caring for an infant, injecting a quick workout in an already hectic day seems impossible.

That's why for her latest vlog, Kapuso actress Solenn Heussaff is sharing her easy, no-fuss tricks to getting back in shape for her fellow C-sectioned moms out there.

In the 13-minute vlog, the 35-year-old mom shared that it took time for her to get back to her pre-pregnancy weight because of the incision.

She told the viewer, “If you were ripped down there it might be a little difficult but the process is kinda the same in getting slowly back to your routine, not forcing anything, and making sure that you listen to your body and you listen to the advice of your OB-GYN and doctors.

“You need to know that getting back is not simple, it will take time.

“When you're C-sectioned, everything seems misplaced or moved around so feeling that core again isn't going to happen right away.”

According to the Taste Buddies host, she only started getting back to her daily routine six months after giving birth to Thylane Katana even though her doctor predicted that she could start brisk walking at 8 weeks.

She added, “Right after the hospital, I thought that at 3 months I could be back to normal. Wrong!

“I only started losing weight after the fourth month. So it does take time and I only started healing now, at the 6th month postpartum.

“So it takes time and I think, based on what I felt, I do feel you cannot do much after the 8 weeks.”

Her tips for losing weight are very simple such as walking for 20 minutes a day, doing yoga and breathing exercises to strengthen her core, wearing a binder to support her stomach, and nourishing her body with the right food.

She admitted that losing weight was frustrating at times because even though she would see her body shrink, the scale says otherwise.

“I was stuck at 65 kilos for three months,” she said.

“I could see that I'm losing weight, I'm shrinking, I was getting rid of my water retention but my weight stayed the same way. It made me depressed in a way because I do not understand.”

Turning serious, Solenn addressed that moms should be proud of their bodies no matter the weight that's written on the scale.

She even addressed the crude remarks she's received after giving birth to her daughter.

“There's a lot of body shaming when you aren't pregnant and there is still a lot when you are pregnant.

“I've had a lot of people tell me, 'Ay maganda ka naman kahit buntis' or 'Blooming ka kahit nanganak ka.'

“Is that supposed to mean that people that gave birth don't look good? Or people that just gave birth aren't supposed to be glowing? I don't think so.

“Women that go through pregnancy go through a lot… A lot of things change in your body and it's difficult as it is. From a normal body, you don't recognize yourself so we do not need the extra thought bubbles of other people. Thank you very much.”

Solenn then revealed that she's happier now considering the number of changes in her body thanks to her family that love and care for her.

“Ever since I got pregnant and ever since the lockdown, I am way happier now.

“What I mean by happier is I care less about the judgment of other people and although I am 4 kilos heavier than I was pre-pregnancy and my hips are 4 inches wider, I am way happier now.

“I hope that moms out there will also embrace the way they look now because I don't think many people can give birth to another being so you guys are powerful in your own way.”
