8 Michelin star restaurants in Hong Kong for every budget

More than being a shopping mecca, Hong Kong is known for its culinary scene.

The small island is actually home to over 50 restaurants with Michelin star ratings ranging from eateries to fine dining establishments.

So if you plan to go to Hong Kong this upcoming summer break, check out these spots that might fit whatever budget you have.

HK$100 and below

Yat Lok


Their signature roast goose glistens as it is marinated with a secret recipe and goes through over 20 preparatory steps before being char-grilled to perfection.


Kwan Kee Claypot Rice


Its gigantic red sign, typical greasy spoon style interior, and traditional stir-fries all point to an authentic Hong Kong culinary experience.

HK$100 - HK$400

Samsen


Named after an area in Bangkok where the Chinese traded with the Thais, the restaurant emulates the authentic street-stall vibes with its rattan blinds, bare concrete walls, and distressed wood furniture.

Tasty Congee and Noodle Wantun Shop


Be prepared to queue because this restaurant serves over 1,000 customers a day. They mostly come for the trademark shrimp wonton, beef and rice noodle stir fry, and congee with prawns.

The Chairman


The Chairman looks at small suppliers and local fishermen for its ingredients and much of the produce used is organic. Must-orders: steamed crab with aged Shaoxing, crispy chicken stuffed with shrimp paste, and almond sweet soup.

ICHU


This is the first Asian venture of chef Virgilio Martinez Veliz, who helms the famed restaurant 'Central' in Peru. Signature dishes include pargo al rocoto (sliced snapper with avocado) and tacu tacu chupe (tiger prawns with beans and aji panca).

Tate Dining Room and Bar


The ground floor houses a cake shop while the top floor boasts a sensuous dining room furnished in soft greys, muted pinks, and brushed gold. The owner created the menu using local ingredients such as osmanthus, Pu-er tea, and kumquat. Talk about fancy!


Belon

This bistro has a subtle French look and a relaxed feel made even more enjoyable by the team who deliver excellent service. The delicious classic French dishes are said to be delivered with consummate skill and accuracy
