In the past years, there has been a rise in coffee consumption in the Philippines. MA+D Manila
Established since 2016, MA+D Manila is a manual brew bar café meant to “make, advocate, delight” drinkers with farm-blended and farm-roasted coffee beans sourced from local communities from Kalinga all the way down to Sultan Kudarat.
SGD Coffee
Couple and coffee lovers Rich and Margaret Watanabe birthed SGD coffee to share their pursuit and experience of the finest coffee as traditionally served in the remote villages of Sagada. They have since partnered with local farmers whose lands are used to plant coffee trees. The mission on their Facebook page also reads, “Highlighting the great work of coffee farmers as the true artisans of the coffee industry.”
Morning Mud Café
Morning Mud Café is a neighborhood coffee spot located inside UP Diliman. It offers the two of the main varieties of coffee produced in the country, namely Arabica from the highlands of the Cordilleras and Mindanao, and Robusta from the Cordilleras and Sultan Kudarat. Its specialty grade beans are provided by a single farm while their espresso blend comes from multiple local sources.
