'Pop Talk:' Classic carinderias around Metro Manila

Can you ever imagine a life without a carinderia? If you can, it's either you're born with a silver spoon in your mouth or you just don't know what it means.

A “carinderia” is a Filipino term for a local eatery selling and serving affordable meals for the masses. It is originally known as “turo-turo,” which means “point-point” in English, wherein customers just simply point at what they want to eat.

In an episode of Pop Talk, Tonipet Gaba is accompanied by blogger Ana Victorino, Chef Anton Amoncio, and Kapuso actress Arra San Agustin as they look for some of the best carinderias around Metro Manila.

As they scour the city, they settle in three classic carinderias that have become a staple in a Filipino's lunch routine.

1. Pochok Bangusan

Location: Roces Avenue, Quezon City

Pochok Bangusan is run by Rustica Alano who offers an array of home-cooked offerings. According to Aling Rustica, she named the eatery after her daughter whom she calls “Pochok.”

Their specialty?
