By Racquel Quieta

Outdoor dining can be a very enjoyable experience, especially if there's a scenic view or you simply want to breathe fresh air. However, nowadays, people are not just dining al fresco for the view and fresh air, but also to feel safe amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

It has been reported that COVID-19 can spread in enclosed areas with poor ventilation and/or air-conditioning systems, since the contaminated air cannot easily move out the space.

That's why it has slowly become a trend for restaurants to either open their windows and doors or move their dining set-up outdoors.

The latter has become a popular option for restaurants in Metro Manila lately.

So, if you're looking for a place to dine al fresco in Metro Manila this weekend, check out some of the restaurants with outdoor dining set-up below.

Mercato Centrale

The Mercato Centrale Group has recently reopened their famous night market and is now called Mercato High StrEat. The big difference that the newly opened Mercato Centrale has from the old one is that it now features established restaurants and top chefs in the country, who have been badly hit by the pandemic.

Participating restaurants include, Gallery by Chele, Woflgang's Steakhouse, Chupacabra, Mango Tree, Brotzeit, Kashmir, Corner Tree Cafe, The Beef Barn, and La Picara, just to name a few

Plus, safety protocols will also be strictly implemented for everyone's safety. Mercato High StrEat is open daily at the Amphitheater, BGC from 11:00 A.M. to 9:00 P.M.

The Podium

Three restaurants in The Podium Mall in ADB Avenue, Ortigas Center are offering special deals along with an al fresco dining set-up. Among the restaurants participating in The Podium's Nightcap Treats are Wildflour Café, Salvatore Cuomo, and Wolfgang's Steakhouse. You can enjoy their special promos this weekend until Saturday, from 5:00 P.M. onwards.

Rockwell

Rockwell restaurants have moved outdoors to provide a safer and delightful dining experience for their patrons and new guests. Called "Rockwell Goes Streetside," the district has now transformed itself to an all-day outdoor dining destination.

Some of the restaurants setting up outdoor dining spaces include Ooma, Single Origin, Dean and Deluca, among others. For the full list of participating restaurants in Rockwell Goes Streetside, visit their official website.
