In an episode of Unang Hirit, entrepreneur Dianna Azores, owner of Delicioso Ham in Makati City, teaches Love Añover how to make homemade Christmas ham in the 'Kitang-kita ang Kita' segment.

Dianna said that with an initial capital of P1,500, she was able to make four pieces of ham and sold each of them for P580 each. Her estimated profit was around Php820.

She also said that the whole process takes seven days and if you want to try it you will need the help of your stainless-steel turner or sianse and a syringe and needle.

See the ingredients and procedure on how to make homemade Christmas ham below.

Ingredients:

1 kilo leg ham/pigue ng baboy
white sugar
salt
honey
flavoring/liquid smoke (smoke flavor)
water
vitamin C liquid (crushed vitamin C tablet)
pineapple
brown sugar
soda
herbs and spices

Procedure:

1. Put the white sugar, salt, honey and flavoring in a bowl. Mix well.
2. Using a syringe and needle, inject the liquid mixture into the pork.
3. For dry curing, mix the salt, white sugar, and crushed vitamin C tablets and rub it all over the pork.
4. Put in a sealed storage and freeze for one week.
5. After one week, boil the cured pork in a cooking solution made with pineapple juice, brown sugar, soda, herbs, and spices for three hours.
6. After boiling, let the pork cool down then peel off the skin.
7. For the glazing process, sprinkle brown sugar on top of the pork. Heat your steel turner directly over the stove's flames until it turns red. Then press it against the pork coated with sugar.

If you want to see how Dianna creates her homemade Christmas hams, you can watch the whole process in this episode of Unang Hirit.
