These popular restaurants from tourist destinations are opening shop in Manila

By Racquel Quieta

Tourists often flock to popular destinations to enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views from mountaintops or get some much-needed vitamin sea in pristine beaches.

But aside from marveling at natural wonders, cultural immersion is also a big part of traveling that most people enjoy, from learning about the history and traditions of the locals, to purchasing their locally made goods, and indulging in their distinct cuisine.

Truly, no vacation is complete without a proper food trip in your destination. This is why some dining spots in famous tourist destinations have become attractions themselves and some of them are indeed worthy of a pilgrimage.

However, ever since the COVID-19 pandemic began, it has been almost impossible to go to these famous tourist destination restaurants because of the lockdowns being imposed left and right.

The good news is that a couple of famous food places in Boracay and La Union are setting up shop here in Metro Manila and we couldn't be more excited about it.

Vizco's Restaurant and Cake Shop in Baguio City is bringing their famous strawberry shortcake and delightful baked offerings to Manila.

In 2020, the popular cake shop opened an outpost in Quezon City where people can pick up their orders.

Now, the well-known resto and cake shop from the City of Pines is formally opening branches in SM North EDSA Annex in Quezon City and SM Megamall Building A in Mandaluyong.

No opening date has been announced yet, but we bet everyone who's obsessed with their cakes and missing Baguio so much will be eagerly waiting.

Although they haven't announced the exact location and opening date, rumor has it that the new Masa Bakehouse branch will be opening in October at Aguirre Avenue, BF Homes Parañaque.

Regardless when and where it'll actually be opening in Manila, those who crave their freshly baked goods and the laidback Elyu vibe will surely be frequenting the new Masa Bakehouse branch in Metro Manila.

Aside from these two popular restos gearing up for their expansion, other dining spots have previously set their sights on Metro Manila such as Siagao's Kermit, Cebu's Hukad, Rico's Lechon and Zubuchon, Baguio's Don Henrico's and Marios, Davao's Blue Posts Boiling Crabs and Shrimps, Pampanga's Razon's and Nathaniel's Bakeshop, and Boracay's Cyma and SpiceBird.

SpiceBird, however, is moving back to Boracay after its run here in Manila that began in September 2020.
