Maureen Wroblewitz shares mental health struggles

By Bianca Geli

TV host and actress Maureen Wroblewitz revealed her past struggles with mental health in line with Suicide Prevention Month.

She shared her own personal story in a recent social media update.

Maureen wrote, "*Trigger Warning*

"Suicide Prevention Month: Sharing my story

"This is a reminder to check on your friends and family. Most people suffer in silence and depression is usually hidden behind smiles and laughter. Remember to always be kind because you never know what someone is going through."

The model then narrated her pain in losing her mother at the age of 11 and "experiencing more of life's difficulties soon after."

"I had slowly started losing faith in myself. I was fighting my inner demons alone because I chose to suffer in silence. I didn't want to burden anyone with my problems but I also was too ashamed of them. I knew something was wrong but I wanted to hide that for as long as I could. It wasn't until one blurry night and suddenly I was exposed," she revealed.

Maureen mentioned in her post that speaking up about her problems, seeing a therapist, and reading a self-help book changed her outlook on life.

She continued, "I have always wanted to share more about my mental health struggles but I never knew how. I now understand that the best way is to just do it, to speak my truth and people will listen. Depression is still a constant battle for me but I am no longer afraid to ask for help. I see my therapist every month, I have motivational calls with my momager and I have the support of my family and my boyfriend."

"I am grateful for all the people in my life who love and care for me. I wouldn't be here without them...literally. To all my supporters, you have made my dreams possible and you still continue to do so."

Maureen is a Filipina-German who was born and raised in Riyadh until she was 12 before moving to Germany after her mother's death. She moved to the Philippines later on to pursue modeling and was part of Asia's Next Top Model in 2017 where she was a part-time model and student. She also joined Eat Bulaga! in 2018 and competed for Miss Universe Philippines in 2021 where she placed first runner-up.
