She says, “Do something that will make you sleep at night, that will make you healthier. Do something that will make you happier. Simple things like if it's your free time, go to the mall, spend time with your friends, spend time or like bond with your family. Eat more, sleep more, you pamper yourself.”

Change of environment

Julie juggles her time between work and home. That's why it's very important for her to have a change of environment once in a while.

She shares, “Most of the time if I'm not in the city, I'm at the beach. You can find me there. What else? I like seeing a lot of greens. I like nature, I'm a nature-lover.

“I'm a very busy person, I'm a preoccupied person. Parang ang routine ko work, bahay, work, bahay, work, bahay. Magkakasunod pa 'yung concert ko, like almost everyday nagtatrabaho ako so just to break the routine, sometimes if I feel I just want to rest, I just bum around. I just want to sleep and eat more, couch potato life,” she also adds.

Julie stresses as well that it is totally fine not do anything sometimes.

“It's okay not to do anything at all if it helps you. Kumbaga, kung ano 'yung ilalabas ko, ipapahinga ko na lang sa bahay,” she continues.

Good company

The Kapuso talent also enjoys surrounding herself with good company, may it be her pets, fellow artists, or friends.

Julie says, “I love my pets. They give me so much joy. Pagka-feeling ko nase-stress ako, 'pag nakikita ko sila, inaalagaan ko sila, hinahawakan ko lang sila, nakikipaglaro ako sa kanila.”

She also makes an effort to go on a simple get-together with her friends.

“For example, every Saturday ang routine namin kasi rehearsals ng Sunday PinaSaya, like every Saturday after ng rehearsals namin, I go out with sina Barbie [Forteza], sina Gladys [Guevarra]. I go out with the team 'coz they're my family also. Iba rin 'yung sa Studio 7, lumalabas din kami sometimes. And then, non-showbiz friends,” she claims.

Me time and introspection

Another practice that Julie does for self-care is taking time to reflect and process her experiences, thoughts, and feelings.

She says, “I like writing more. I have been writing a lot of stuff lately. Not necessarily songs, but you know, journals, poetry, poems. Recently I just finished a song, and then actually I'm working on another song but it's gonna be a collaboration din.”

In doing self-care, Julie wants to break the notion that it feels lonely to do things alone.

She admits, “I enjoy being alone. Iba kasi kapag may peace ka sa sarili mo. 'Pag may inner peace ka kasi, it all follows through. Lahat na 'yan nag-a-appear sa aura mo, how you carry yourself as a person, 'yung personality mo nag-iiba. 'Yung disposition mo in life din nag-iiba. Important to have that kind of positive energy palagi despite the chaos, despite everything, the hating, the gulo, kahit anong negative. Just see the bright side of it.”
