Simply put the calamansi juice and honey in a mug. Add hot water and stir well. You may also add fresh ginger if you want.

The honey will soothe your throat and the lime or calamansi will help with decongestion.

Moreover, honey is known to have antibacterial properties, while lime and lemon are both rich in Vitamin C, which helps boost the immune system.

That's why all these ingredients are perfect for making a DIY alternative to your usual cold and cough syrup.

Just keep in mind that honey should not be given to children under one year of age due to the risk of infant botulism.

Also, if you are experiencing other symptoms like fever, difficulty breathing, headaches, weakness, and your cough and cold have persisted for more than a week, you should not self-medicate and you must consult a doctor right away.
