Here's why Marian Rivera avoids drinking alcohol

By Jansen Ramos

Marian Rivera has been avoiding alcoholic beverages for quite some time now.

Netizens attested to that when she refused to drink alcohol during her intimate date with her husband, Dingdong Dantes, at home recently.

Marian posted a photo in her Instagram Story last May 21 where she is sharing a toast with the actor who was, at that time, holding a glass of liquor.

While drinking alcohol is perfectly fine as long as it is taken in moderation, the actress took a glass of water instead.

"Cheers Mahal ko! Tubig na lang muna ko...," Marian wrote.

Many were intrigued as to why the Kapuso Primetime Queen only drank such during the romantic engagement.

However, it was explained on Team Dantes's website that she only takes non-alcoholic beverages because she is still breastfeeding her youngest child, Ziggy.

It said: "Marian is still breastfeeding her youngest Sixto. That is why she can't drink any wine nor any drinks with alcohol in it.

"Her children's health is Marian's number 1 priority. So she will do anything to keep them healthy."

Studies have shown that when there's alcohol in breast milk, babies drink less and may not grow as well, Dr. Catherine Herway, MD, a New York-based maternal fetal medicine specialist, said in an interview with health.com.

Marian is a breastfeeding and breast milk advocate.

In celebration of the World Day of Human Milk Donation observed last May 19, she donated her breast milk as way to encourage her fellow “Padede moms” to do the same.
