By Maine Aquino

Gil Cuerva revealed how he is dealing with his mental health as he face the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Gil, mental health is a very serious matter.

In an exclusive video interview with GMANetwork.com, he shared, “These are very serious and concerning issues.

"I think sometimes we tend to overlook it simply because it's not a physical injury or something we actually feel physically. It's all in the head. It's mental; that's why it's mental health.”

Gil feels like it's not apt for him to self-diagnose what he feels.

“With regards to me experiencing depression and anxiety, I feel those things that it's best to confirm if I am feeling depressed or if I am feeling anxious with a psychologist or with a therapist.

"I don't want to self-diagnose.”

The Kapuso actor continued that he was already feeling a bit down even before the enhanced community quarantine started.

“All I can say is there have been times that I have really felt down. Even before ECQ, to be honest. This is me being honest and truthful; I've been feeling down for quite a bit. I just try my best to keep it together.”

Gil said that the pandemic just aggravated his emotions.

“This pandemic in general, the COVID-19 virus that's been spreading has also caused me to feel a bit worse. When I say worse, it isn't helping my mental health, or it isn't helping me or it isn't helping anyone at all.”

The Taste Buddies host said that the pandemic made him worry and question everything about the aspects of his life.

“If anything, it's just making me worry about work, it's making me worry about my family, my friends, about going out.

"Whether life will ever be normal or if we're just going to be confined in our homes for how long. I don't know. All these things just enter my head.”

He added, “I guess like other people I do worry about what's happening and what's going on. So definitely during this ECQ I don't think my mental health has gotten any better.”
