Divine Lee documents her COVID-19 journey

By Cara Emmeline Garcia

It was on July 20 when blogger and host Divine Lee revealed that she and her husband Blake Go had contracted the coronavirus despite staying at home since the imposed lockdown.

That's why in a tell-all vlog uploaded on July 25, Divine and Blake recall how they felt during the incident which might have been triggered with eating ice cream.

According to the businessman, “I think that that was the trigger point.

“Nasa katawan ko na 'yung virus pero baka lang wala pang symptoms at the time. Pero nung na-trigger na 'yung sore throat, nagtuluy-tuloy na siya.”

The minute Blake revealed how he's been feeling, he immediately isolated himself from Divine and the kids while carefully monitoring his overall health.

“I look normal [on the outside], but honestly I was tired; my body was pagod and ayaw kong gumalaw.

“Mine started with a sore throat for three days and then there was a fever, cough, diarrhea, and 'yung smell and taste ko nag-iba.

“So, we thought maybe we should get a test para sure. And sure nga, positive.”

Divine shared, “Believe it or not guys, we've been so careful.

“Hindi pa kami lumalabas since March 14 at wala pa kaming nakikitang tao.

“So, I think it debunks the claim na it [virus] bounces from person to person. I don't know I'm not a scientist nor a doctor.”

Once they had the swab test done at their home, she too tested positive from the virus but classified as asymptomatic.

With his worsening condition, Blake, on the other hand, had to be sent to the hospital for careful monitoring.

He shared with Divine's followers, “Ako, takot akong mag pa-ospital--ayaw ko. This is my first time to go.

"Takot talaga ako pumunta but I think it saved me from all the extreme complications.

“So for people who have symptoms, kahit hindi grabe, don't be scared to get tested.

"It's better to be sure kaysa mahawaan niyo 'yung kids niyo or your parents.

“I know kasi pareho tayo [ng nararamdaman], I was so scared in the beginning pero marami ng options ngayon. I recommend na magpa-swab kayo kahit sa bahay.

“If the doctors find out sa early stages ng virus they will help save your life kaysa hintayin niyo na worst-case scenario na.”

Speaking of parents, Divine said that she hasn't revealed that she's tested positive from the novel coronavirus to her dad because she didn't want him to worry.

She said, “Gusto ko munang magkaroon ng negative na swab test kasi baka matakot 'yun kasi may blood condition kaming magkakapatid.

“May nababasa pa naman ako na delikado ang COVID sa mga may blood condition.”

Worst part of the ordeal

The two agree that what kept them worrying at night is not just the virus but also being away from their two children, Basquiat and Blanca, while in isolation.

Blake claimed, “Mas nakakatakot kung praning ka… na matutulog ka at alam mong positive ka at baka 'di ka magigising, or you'd become a severe case.

“So, those things are the hardest part of having a COVID kasi you don't know kung matutuloy pa rin ba o hindi.”

Additionally, Divine said, “Never pa akong nahiwalay sa kids, ngayon lang nangyari to. Doon ako naiiyak, because of the kids.

“Emotional rollercoaster itong COVID, e. Even though I know that Blake is on the safe side, it's still scary.”

If there's one thing Divine learned throughout the whole situation, it's the fact that she has now immense respect for everyone working in the medical field.

She said, “For this video, I want to give a shoutout to all the nurses and all the doctors.

“Now that we're in the face of COVID, you know how nice they are to Blake. They give him hope, strength, and courage. They are so brave at grabe ang saludo ko sa kanila.

“If I can have at least one kid who's in the medical field, malaking balik ko na 'yun [sa kanila].”

Divine tested negative on July 21, 2020, while Blake returned home from the hospital a few days after.

Throughout the video, the two recommend disinfecting everything, taking vitamins such as vitamin C, zinc, and melatonin to boost their immune system, and getting tested immediately once you feel something to protect your household.
