Max Collins on her breastfeeding journey: 'It's been crazy'

By Aaron Brennt Eusebio

Kapuso actress and first-time mom Max Collins admitted that she is still struggling in breastfeeding her one-month-old son, Skye Anakin.

In celebration of World Breastfeeding Week, Max wrote a lengthy message on Instagram to share her journey of breastfeeding.

“Since its world breastfeeding week, I'd like to share my journey with you thus far,” she began her message.

“It's been CRAAAAZY I honestly don't know how mamas go on breastfeeding for years, or with twins!

“Yes, it's a magical, intimate experience to have with your child, but it's also physically and emotionally draining.”

Max added that she is having a hard time producing enough milk for Skye Anakin.

“I had a difficult time during the first two weeks of breastfeeding, my milk ducts were clogged most of the time and it was difficult getting the milk out and once I got over that stump, a new challenge arrived,” she shared.

“I was [and still am] having quite a difficult time producing enough milk for my baby (who feeds nonstop around the clock).

“But I'm so thankful for all the support I've been getting from family and friends who have had similar hardships - especially one friend in particular who ared her milk stash with Skye.

The actress also shared that breastfeeding helps in building the baby's immune system.

She also acknowledged that not all mothers can do breastfeeding.

“Breast milk is such a blessing for our babies during this pandemic, helping build their immune system and protect them against illnesses (just in case you didn't know),” she said.

“That being said, breastfeeding isn't for every momma and that's OK! I grew up on formula and turned out fine. This week let's celebrate every mother's own unique breastfeeding journey.”

Max and Pancho Magno welcomed Skye Anakin on July 7, via water birthing in their home.
