Asthma is one of the most common respiratory diseases in the world and could also be one of those ailments that may hinder you from living your life to the fullest.

Especially with the COVID-19 pandemic, people with moderate to severe asthma have a higher risk of getting sick from the disease since it affects the nose, throat, and lungs.

This includes actress Kim Chiu who reveals exclusively to GMANetwork.com about her worries about the virus and how it may affect her health.

“During this pandemic, natatakot talaga ako lumabas kasi I have very weak lungs,” she says.

“Tapos, sabi pa nila 'yung lungs raw 'yung unang naapektuhan ng coronavirus kaya medyo natakot ako kasi meron akong asthma.

"To be honest, 'yun din 'yung nag-push sa akin to workout every day so that I could get my lungs stronger. I do a lot of workouts and different types of exercises para lumakas ako.”

Kim said she found comfort knowing that the multivitamins that she takes contains Vitamins C and Zinc --- two ingredients that are vital in keeping our body's immune system healthy.

“It helps me a lot kasi it boosts my mental sharpness and physical energy. Nakakatanggal din siya ng stress so ang dami niyang nagagawa for me.

Aside from taking the multivitamin, Kim makes sure to stay active indoors by purchasing fitness equipment for her home.

“I had to give up 'yung hilig kong mag-marathon and go out with friends kasi lahat ng ginagawa natin ngayon dito lang sa loob ng bahay.

“Ngayon meron akong stationary bike, a treadmill, at nagsu-swimming na rin ako para magawa ko 'yung physical activities dito sa loob ng bahay. Siyempre, very limited lang 'yung distance compared nung nagma-marathon ako.

“Pero, we're in this journey for more than six months na kaya naka-adjust na rin 'yung katawan ko na sa bahay lang.

“If we need to go out dapat bilisan mo lang talaga and always be safe,” she advises.
